In his career, British Shakespearean actor Patrick Stewart has played his share of kings, emperors, prime ministers and dictators. Now, he’s working in another universe as commander of the starship Enterprise on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
As Capt. Jean Luc Picard, he’s also become part of a Trekkie cult that has tuned in this syndicated series in large numbers since it took the air last fall (Channel 13 airs it Sundays at 5 p.m., with repeats Saturdays at 6 p.m.).
The series is one of television’s highest-rated syndicated shows, up in the stratosphere with “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!,” which means, of course, that more new adventures will be unfolding in the coming season.
