Conejo Valley Home Sales Drop, Prices Jump in June

June sales of existing houses in the Conejo Valley fell 18% from a year earlier, but house prices in the region jumped 27%, the Conejo Valley Board of Realtors reported.
Sales of single-family houses totaled 283 in June, which was up slightly from the 279 sales reported in May, but down sharply from the 343 houses sold in June, 1987, the real estate group said. The report covers sales in Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park.
The average price of the houses sold in June was $284,103, up from $223,793 a year earlier. The average price for the 1,307 houses sold in the region in the first half of this year was $256,680, up 21% from the $212,965 average for the 1,410 houses sold in the comparable 1987 period, the board said.
