Texas Air Corp. says American and United airlines illegally diverted passengers by misuse of their computerized reservation systems. The charges were made in a filing with the Department of Transportation. Texas Air, which owns Continental and Eastern airlines, said American and United are gaining hundreds of millions of dollars by deliberately providing travel agents with unreliable flight and seat availability information about competitive airlines. American and United operate two of the most widely used computerized systems available to travel agents.
