Janet Schmieder, in her letter to The Times (Aug. 20), expressed the optimistic desire that, “One can only hope that one day the majority in Congress will put integrity and backbone ahead of the almighty dollar when voting . . . . “
The answer to her hope, of course, is: That day will come to pass when the majority of the electorate do the same.
