NEW YORK — A Pepsi-Cola delivery truck driver from the New York City suburbs was identified today as the winner of New York’s $23-million Lotto jackpot, and officials said he quit his job the day he learned of his good fortune.
An ecstatic Tony Valentino, 29, of Port Chester, N.Y., called his supervisor to tell him he had picked all six winning numbers drawn Saturday, said Tod MacKenzie, a Pepsi spokesman. Valentino also told his supervisor that he would not be coming back to work, he said.
“We congratulate him and wish him all the best in his new status as multimillionaire,” MacKenzie said. “We’ve always known our employees are winners, but this is something special.”
