Anti-Noise Plan Approved

Noisy construction and repair work in residential areas will be banned on Saturdays under an ordinance that received preliminary approval from the City Council on Tuesday.
A city law already bans heavy construction and maintenance between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. every day and all day on Sundays and public holidays. But a residential construction boom in Beverly Hills has unnerved many residents who have been forced to maneuver around construction equipment near their driveways and put up with noise created by workers and machines. The law would not ban minor repairs and maintenance.
The ordinance will go into effect 31 days after receiving final council approval, which is expected to come in the next few weeks.
