Judgment Day Arriving Fast in World of Sports
- Share via
The courts and sports governing bodies (e.g. the NCAA and the U.S. Olympic Committee) are beginning to take a major role in determining who will participate in athletic events. Of recent vintage, there is the Stars & Stripes-New Zealand sailing controversy, Richard Dent of the Chicago Bears contesting his 30-day suspension, swimmer Angel Myers being denied a chance to compete in the Olympics and Texas A&M; (and others) being placed on probation.
We are fast approaching the point when having a “good” judge is more important than having a good team.
