Bio Logical

Barbara Howar admits she’s become a “bit defensive” about gossip concerning her “Unauthorized Biography,” a two-hour show slated four times a year (airing locally on KCOP, Channel 13), beginning in October. The title, she says, “is throwing everybody.” She wants to make it clear that she does “not in any way choose to have this confused with trash and garbage like Kitty Kelley’s,” referring to the author of the notorious Frank Sinatra bio, “His Way.”
Howar’s first subject is Jane Fonda, who’s been told of the project but “has expressed no feelings one way or another” about it, said Fonda rep Steve Rivers.
Claims Howar: “She knows this is being done in a very journalistic fashion. I have no appetite for the sensational. Besides, there is no dreck to rake up in Jane’s life; she’s been right up front about everything she’s done.”
So why the title?
“It’s show biz, darling. You know, if you put up a serious, thoughtful Jane Fonda documentary that shows her as a reflection of the times, before you finish it, everybody nods off.”
