A judge ruled that Walt Disney Co. has a right to use the MGM/UA Communications name as part of the “Disney-MGM Studio Tour” being built in Florida. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald E. Swearinger granted Disney a summary judgment in a suit which MGM/UA filed last May. The suit sought to void a 1985 contract between the companies because Disney added hotels to its Florida complex. MGM, which has no financial participation in the facility, said MGM Grand Inc. has exclusive rights to the MGM name on hotels.
