Police Chief in Cardiac Care Unit After Heart Attack

Glendale Police Chief David J. Thompson is recovering from a heart attack he suffered last Thursday while attending a La Canada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce lunch.
According to Sgt. Dean Durand, a spokesman for the department, Thompson, 58, drove himself to Verdugo Hills Hospital after feeling chest pains and nausea during the luncheon.
On Tuesday, he was transferred to the cardiac care unit of the Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles where he was listed Wednesday in fair condition, said Ellen Brenner, hospital spokeswoman.
