A plastic bag containing medical waste was found on a La Jolla beach, the third such discovery along the coast in three weeks, San Diego County officials said. Meanwhile, health officials said they were talking to the Navy about the possibility that some of its ships were the source of the medical waste. A passer-by found the bag at La Jolla Shores and reported it to lifeguards. Material in the bag appeared to include a catheter, a large syringe and empty plastic containers.
