Bicyclist, 8, Killed When Hit by Truck

An 8-year-old girl was struck by a commercial dirt-hauling truck and killed Saturday afternoon while riding her bicycle with a group of friends across a Westminster intersection, police said.
The girl, identified as Hoa Thi Nguyen of Garden Grove, was dead at the scene of the 3:50 p.m. accident at Westminster and Beach boulevards, police said.
Nguyen was riding her bicycle across Beach Boulevard with a group of four other friends when she was hit by the truck turning from Westminster onto Beach, said Westminster Police Sgt. Larry Russell.
Both the girl and the truck driver, Christopher Wilde, 23, of Cypress were moving with a green light, Russell said. No citations have been issued against Wilde.
