A wicker furniture warehouse in Pasadena was gutted early Wednesday by a trash bin fire that spread after it was possibly set by transients seeking warmth, authorities said.
The fire was reported at the Wicker Craft Building at Fair Oaks Avenue and Valley Street about 3 a.m., fire dispatcher Rafaela Romero said. Thirteen companies of firefighters brought the fire under control, and no injuries were reported.
The fire was touched off by flames in a trash bin found next to the warehouse, Battalion Chief Barry Butler said. He said he believes the smaller fire was started by a group of homeless people trying to keep warm. No arrests were made.
