Dowell Helps CS Long Beach Women Win

Forward Cheryl Dowell, who was not allowed to play in the last game because she arrived late, scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Cal State Long Beach women defeated Fresno State, 90-63, in a Big West women’s college basketball game Thursday night at Fresno.
The victory improved the 49ers’ record to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in league play, while the Bulldogs dropped to 10-3 and 1-1.
Guard Penny Toler of Long Beach topped all scorers with 23 points. Yvette Roberts, with 22, led Fresno State, which shot only 36.2%.
