The Irvine Co., the county’s largest landowner, and the Koll Co., one of the county’s biggest developers, have begun construction on the third phase of the Irvine/Koll Venture in the Irvine Spectrum.
The two firms, both based in Newport Beach, plan to spend $25 million on four research and development buildings at the Spectrum, a huge office and industrial park at the juncture of the San Diego and Santa Ana freeways. The entire Irvine/Koll venture is estimated at $200 million.
