In Brief : Gold for U.S. Deaf Basketball Team

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — The United States won its ninth consecutive gold medal in men’s basketball at the World Games for the Deaf at Cowles Stadium tonight.
The Americans, who were unbeaten in four games, defeated Finland 127-59 in the final. The U.S. squad led at half-time 59-21. Sweden won the silver medal, beating New Zealand 112-62. Finland took the bronze. The games started Jan. 7 and end on Tuesday. They involve 1,400 athletes from nearly 30 countries.
