A West German man who pleaded guilty to conspiring to export radar navigation systems to Iran in violation of a U.S. embargo was placed on five years probation by a San Diego federal judge. Bernd Pleuger, 51, was neither fined nor jailed by U.S. District Judge Earl Gilliam on the recommendation of Assistant U.S. Atty. Phil Halpern, who said Pleuger’s role was “secondary” and that he was not a danger to society. Pleuger is the former manager of Beechcraft Vertrieb Und Service, a Munich firm whose owner, Hans Schneider, 57, is a fugitive.
