Unidentified Man Dies of Gunshot Wound in Santa Ana

An unidentified man died of a gunshot wound early Saturday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, authorities said.
The victim, about 25 years old, died at 1:15 a.m. after surgery, Santa Ana Police Lt. Hugh Mooney said. Police received a call at 11:32 p.m. Friday of a shooting in the 200 block of South Bristol Avenue in Santa Ana. Officers found the victim on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Mooney said the victim had no identification. The motive for the attack and the caliber of weapon used are unknown, Mooney said.
“There is very little to go on,” Mooney said. “It’s one of those real puzzlers.”
