The George Michael Diet Coke commercial will make its belated debut Monday during ABC’s telecast of “The American Music Awards.” The 90-second spot (shot by “Dangerous Liaisons” director Stephen Frears) was not finished in time for its planned premiere last Sunday on the Super Bowl telecast. Michael reportedly was paid $3 million for the spot, for which he composed an original score. It includes an excerpt from “Hard Day,” a song from the singer’s “Faith” LP, which has sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S.
