A fire in an exclusive enclave of Malibu this morning destroyed two homes, including one owned by “Dallas” executive producer Leonard Katzman, damaged a third and injured three firefighters.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials tentatively estimated the damages at $3 million to the structure of Katzman’s home alone. No value was placed yet on lost belongings or the neighboring homes. The fire was reported along Pacific Coast Highway near Escondido Beach Road shortly before 1 a.m., and it took more than 50 firefighters to bring it under control by 2:10 a.m., officials said. The cause is under investigation.
Two housekeepers in Katzman’s home got out of the house uninjured. Katzman is out of the country, and the house has been undergoing extensive remodeling.
