Commodore Names Ali President

Mehdi Ali, managing director of Dillon, Read & Co., New York, has been named president of Commodore International Ltd.
Ali has been a special adviser to Commodore for the past three years and in August was elected to the board. He has been with Dillon Read since 1984 and served as vice president at Pepsico and General Motors the previous eight years.
Commodore, with headquarters in West Chester, Pa., makes and sells personal computers.
Commodore Chairman Irving Gould said Ali has been working with the restructuring of Commodore and will “expand the role he has been playing.”
The job of president has been vacant for two years. Gould has been chairman and chief executive.
