Air Force Plane Crashes; Crew Parachutes to Safety

KIRBY, Vt. — An Air Force FB-111 fighter-bomber jet crashed and exploded Thursday in a wooded area in northeastern Vermont, but the two crew members aboard parachuted to safety, officials said. The jet was based at the Air Force facility in Plattsburgh, N.Y., about 80 miles west of the crash site.
