Wade Boggs will fight Margo Adams’ $12-million lawsuit in court rather than try to reach a settlement with his longtime mistress, the Boston Red Sox star said after giving an eight-hour deposition at a hearing in Tampa, Fla.

Boggs admitted in testimony that Adams was his companion on team trips. Their affair ended last year during a storm of angry allegations. The five-time American League batting champion said that there was never an agreement on an amount that Adams would be paid in compensation for her time.
