PREP BASKETBALL : Garden Grove League Girls : Kennedy Surprises Rancho Santiago

Gina Alcoser had 17 points and 11 rebounds as Kennedy High School upset Rancho Alamitos, 70-50, Friday in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game at Kennedy.
The score was tied, 29-29, at halftime, but the Fighting Irish (11-9 overall, 10-4 in league play) outscored the Vaqueros, 26-13, in the third quarter to take a 55-42 lead.
Shelly Tsuji scored 23 points and Jenny Newsome 18 for Rancho Alamitos (18-3, 11-3), which is ranked eighth in Orange County.
Los Amigos 54, Bolsa Grande 37--Amy Pearson had 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lobos (10-12, 8-6) at Los Amigos.
Santiago 34, Garden Grove 32--Becky Elcocked scored 18 points, including four in the final 45 seconds, to lead the Cavaliers (10-12, 6-8) at Santiago. Robin Caires had 10 points and seven assists for Santiago.
