Big West Roundup : McArthur Helps Gauchos End Losing Streak With Easy Win

Eric McArthur scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds as UC Santa Barbara snapped a three-game losing streak by routing beleaguered San Jose State, 70-49, Saturday night at Goleta.
McArthur scored eight points during a 16-0 run as the Gauchos increased a 33-21 lead to 49-21 with 11:58 left. Santa Barbara, 16-4 overall and 7-4 in the Big West Conference, is 9-0 at home.
The Spartans, 5-17 and 1-12, have lost 11 consecutive games, including seven since 10 scholarship players walked out last month, demanding the firing of Coach Bill Berry.
New Mexico State 79, Pacific 60--James Anderson scored 21 points and three other Aggies scored in double figures at Las Cruces, N.M., as the Tigers lost their ninth in a row.
The Aggies, who have won seven of their last eight games, improved to 16-7 overall and 9-4 in conference play.
Pacific is 5-16 and 1-11.
