Loews Corp.’s 1988 earnings advanced 31% to $909 million. Revenue rose 17% to $10.9 billion. Results include $18 million in income from discontinued operations and realized investment gains of $143.8 million, compared to $39.8 million net from discontinued operations in 1987 and realized investment gains of $68.2 million. New York-based Loews is a holding company with movie theater, hotel, tobacco, insurance and other interests.
