Hillman Advances Up Hoover Scoring List

The Hoover High basketball team finished the season with a 7-16 record, but it wasn’t a bad year for junior forward John Hillman.
Hillman averaged 25.3 points a game to move into second place on the school’s all-time season scoring list with 675 points.
In doing so, Hillman bumped his brother, Joe, into third place.
However, John is not about to apologize to his older brother. In his senior season, Joe, who now plays at Indiana, averaged 41.3 points and finished with 1,074, the third-best single-season total in the Southern Section going into this season.
The older Hillman’s record is even more astounding considering the fact that the three-point shot was not in effect until three years after Joe graduated from Hoover.
