Poly Enters Playoffs After Fourth Victory Over Birmingham

Senior guard Hugo Parra scored a game-high 22 points and was perfect on nine field-goal attempts in leading Poly High to a 77-58 win over Birmingham in a City Section boys’ basketball tiebreaker Wednesday at Monroe High.
John Bruner had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Poly (11-10). The Parrots finished the regular season tied for second place in the East Valley League with Birmingham, which ended its season at 9-12.
Juan Estrada added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Poly, which plays at Los Angeles High on Friday night in the first round of the 3-A Division playoffs.
