Certron Corp., Anaheim, posted net earnings of $83,000 for the first quarter ended Jan. 31. For the comparable period a year ago, the company reported net earnings of $130,000, which included a $16,000 extraordinary item. Sales rose 6% to $7.2 million from $6.8 million. The sales hike for the fiscal year’s first quarter was due to increased videocassette sales, the company said, while net earnings declined because pricing remained extremely competitive. Certron manufactures and distributes audio recording tapes, distributes videocassettes and floppy disks to the consumer market, and manufactures and assembles products for other companies.
