Former standout running back O. J. Simpson has pleaded innocent through his attorney to misdemeanor charges that he beat his wife during a New Year’s Day dispute at their Brentwood home.
Simpson, 41, is charged with one count of spousal battery for allegedly slapping, kicking and threatening to kill his wife, Nicole, city attorney’s officials said. Simpson, who denied the charges through attorney Howard Weitzman on Wednesday, will not have to appear for his trial on April 10, according to city attorney’s spokesman Mike Qualls.
