A Serious Mistake

Kevin Thomas, in his April 1 reviews of “The Vietnam Film Project,” stated that these films have been made as “personal works of sophistication free from propaganda and unafraid of being critical.” Such an opinion is very naive.
There is no freedom of speech in Vietnam; and these films must have been carefully orchestrated under the direction and supervision of the government. To believe that Vietnamese artists have freedom of expression in Vietnam is a serious mistake.
