HDL Communications in Costa Mesa said merger discussions with Bermudez Associates, a West Los Angeles advertising agency specializing in the Latino market, have ended. Robert C. Horlick, president and chief executive officer of the Orange County publishing firm, said the firm will actively pursue other merger and acquisition opportunities. Meanwhile, the firm, which has only four full-time employees, is “winding down” and is not actively soliciting manuscripts or published books, Horlick said.
