In honor of television’s 50th anniversary, NBC’s “Today” show next Friday will spend two hours reviewing the history of the medium . . . And on May 1, People magazine will issue “People Extra: Television’s 50th Anniversary,” a special 156-page issue looking at the five decades of the “magic box.” The publication is only the fourth special issue of the magazine, which previously focused on Michael Jackson, Hollywood’s 100th anniversary and Princess Diana.
