Stanford Freshman Takes Pac-10 Golf Title; Arizona State Wins

Stanford freshman Christian Cevaer of France shot a five-under-par 65 Wednesday to win the individual title, and Arizona State held off Arizona for team honors in the 32nd annual Pacific 10 Conference golf championships at the Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle.
Cevaer, from Paris, finished with a 54-hole total of 203, beating runner-up Chris Holzgang of Oregon, who had a 66, by three strokes. Arizona had four players in the top 10, Arizona State two.
Arizona State’s winning team total was 1,074 while Arizona had 1,070. Stanford was third with 1,090, followed by USC and Oregon with 1,096 each, and UCLA with 1,099.
Brian Pemberton of USC, who had a final-round 69, tied for sixth place at 215.
