Harcourt Brace Jovanovich: The Orlando,Fla.-based publishing, theme park and insurance company reported a first-quarter net loss of $116 million, compared to a $35.3-million loss a year ago. Revenue rose to $315.5 million from $276.6 million. The company said the loss in its publishing group increased by about $19 million over the year before. Its parks group, which includes Sea World, performed better than in the same period last year, the firm said, as did its insurance group.
