NWA Inc. Sets Deadline: The parent of Northwest Airlines set May 30 as the deadline for submission of acquisition proposals for the company. NWA said it would consider the offers along with other alternatives to “enhance shareholder value,” such as a share repurchase or a special dividend. Among those known to be interested in buying Minneapolis-based NWA are Pan Am Corp., Los Angeles billionaire Marvin Davis and another Los Angeles investor, Alfred A. Checchi.
