Phyllis McGrady, executive producer of the new ABC News prime-time series that Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer will co-anchor, is leaving the job because of a “serious illness” in her family, ABC has announced. McGrady, appointed to the job in February, was immediately succeeded by Richard Kaplan, executive producer of Ted Koppel’s “Nightline” for the last five years.
