SOUTHERN SECTION PLAYOFFS : Perfect Game for Western’s Fowler

Freshman Dawn Fowler pitched a perfect game and struck out nine to lead Western High School to an 11-0 victory over host Rubidoux in a second-round Southern Section 4-A softball playoff game Wednesday. It was the first no-hitter of the season for Fowler, who is 12-4 and second-team All-Orange League.

Fowler was backed by Wendy McDermott, who was four for four and four RBIs; Dena Petersen, who was four for four with three runs, and Tanya Sieks, who was three for four with two RBIs. Western (24-5) will play Hart in a quarterfinal game Friday.
