Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Lamppost

A20-year-old Sylmar man was killed early Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a lamppost, police said.

Eric O. Fuentes was taken to Olive View Medical Center immediately after the 12:15 a.m. accident at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Ararat Street, said Officer James Ruffner of the Los Angeles Police Department. He died a short time later, Ruffner said.

A witness told police that Fuentes was driving north on Foothill Boulevard when he failed to make a sharp turn, swerved out of control and hit the lamppost. Fuentes was not wearing a helmet, Ruffner said.
