Man Killed in Pacoima as Shots Are Traded

An 18-year-old man was shot to death early Saturday in an exchange of gunfire in Pacoima, Los Angeles police said.
The shooting occurred about 1:45 a.m. near Paxton Street and Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where the victim, Jose Guerro, was buying food at a mini-market, police said.
A vehicle occupied by at least two men stopped near Guerro and, after a verbal exchange, shots were exchanged, police said.
Guerro was hit by several bullets and attempted to run away, police said.
He was driven by friends to Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival about 1:55 a.m., authorities said.
