Tuesday was the deadline for 21 of the 25 National Basketball Assn. teams to submit the names of players they are protecting from the expansion draft that will stock the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Detroit Pistons and the Lakers may wait until after their championship series, and last season’s expansion teams, Charlotte and Miami, are exempt.
The names of those players made available will not be released by the league.
If the championship series ends in a four-game sweep, the expansion draft will be held June 15. If the series goes more than four games, it will be held June 22.
