Man Arrested in Shooting of 2 Boys, Officer

A Compton man dressed in military fatigues wounded two boys and fired at a police officer in a bullet-proof vest before being arrested Friday night, police said.
At about 5:30 p.m., Grayland Williams, 36, allegedly shot a 10-year-old boy in the head and a 14-year-old in the leg outside his home in the 1400 block of South Kemp Avenue, authorities said. The first boy was listed in serious condition at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center; the second boy was listed in stable condition.
An officer wearing a bullet-proof vest was slightly injured when the suspect fired a shotgun blast at him before being arrested, police said.
Another man was wounded Friday night after he allegedly fired at officers in South-Central Los Angeles, authorities said. Sheriff’s deputies said Manuel James Earles, 18, was in serious condition after they shot him when he opened fire on an anti-gang task force that was trying to question him.
