Freely Given, Not Free

As an occasional volunteer in a food bank, I found the article, “Stories from the Edge,” by Paul Ciotti (May 24) of interest and generally factual. I do take exception to his term “free food.” He uses the term “free food” not once or twice, but 14 times in the article.
If Ciotti or anyone else in this materialistic entitled generation really believes that this food is “free,” I would suggest that they seek out a place of worship of their choice, or if they have none, then pick any church, synagogue or place of worship whose members are supporters of a food bank.
The gifts that make the food banks possible are given. Please don’t cheapen them by calling them free.
