American Legion Baseball : Henson Finds the Groove in Panorama City Victory

Left-hander Sean Henson gave up two singles and a triple to the first three batters he faced but settled down to finish with a six-hitter as Panorama City defeated North Hollywood, 4-3, in a District 20 Eastern Division game at Monroe High on Wednesday.
Henson (2-1) gave up three runs in the first inning on a two-run triple by Duane Braxton and a sacrifice fly by Harry Marks but struck out six and walked two the rest of the way.
Dave Garcia scored the winning run for Panorama City (5-2) in the fourth when Joe Cascione’s ground ball was booted for an error.
In other games:
Newhall-Saugus 7, Quartz Hill 2--Trailing, 1-0, in the bottom of the third, Newhall-Saugus (5-1) scored six runs in a Northern Division game at Saugus High.
Left fielder Kevin Backes capped the six-run outburst with a grand slam. Right-hander Scott Thomason (1-0) threw a five-hitter.
Encino-Crespi 4, Glendale 2--Dan Carroll allowed two runs on eight hits, struck out nine and walked four in 6 1/3 innings for Encino-Crespi (4-2) in an inter-division game at Valley College.
Woodland Hills West 4, Reseda 3--Woodland Hills West held a one-run lead in the top of the sixth inning when the sprinklers came on and disrupted the Western Division game at El Camino Real. The game will be completed at a later date.
Rio Mesa 9, Westlake-Agoura 9--Brian Smith hit a three-run home run for Westlake-Agoura in the first, but Rio Mesa scored seven times in the fifth in a game at Westlake High that was called because of darkness after seven innings.
