Savanna’s Abdi Transfers to Huntington Beach

Forward Mustaphi Abdi of Savanna High School, the Orange League’s most valuable player as a sophomore, has transferred to Huntington Beach High for his junior season.
Abdi, 6-foot-3, averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds last season to lead Savanna to a 24-3 record. He became only the third sophomore in 15 years to earn The Times’ All-County honors, joining Tom Lewis of Mater Dei and Jamal Garner of Huntington Beach.
Last week, Abdi moved into Huntington Beach’s attendance area with his brother and mother and began playing for the Oilers’ summer basketball team on Tuesday.
