America’s battle with the bottle will be the topic of CBS News’ “48 Hours” broadcast Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBS (Channels 2 and 8). For the hourlong report, titled “48 Hours: Drunk or Sober,” the program’s correspondents spent two days and two nights with alcoholics, families of alcoholics, teen-age abusers, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and support groups. The program also reports on a research project that may explain the genetic link to alcohol abuse. Dan Rather anchors, with reports from CBS News correspondents Bernard Goldberg, Jonn Blackstone, Frank Currier and Erin Moriarty.
