EC Clears Film Distribution Deal: Movie fans in small towns across Europe will see more Hollywood films without traveling to big cities as a result of a deal announced in Brussels between the European Community and three major American film companies. Paramount Pictures Corp., MCA Inc. and MGM/UA Communications Co. won special exemption from EC competition rules for their jointly owned distribution company, the EC’s executive commission said. The three agreed to conditions that the commission said would distribute films more widely, especially to smaller cinemas and those outside big cities.
