WOODSTOWN, N.J. — A teacher who released two snakes from a classroom because she thought they were being mistreated has been found guilty of theft and fined $100.
Diane Barry, an instructor in stained-glass in an adult education program, said she released the two black rat snakes from an aquarium at Woodstown High School because the water in the tank was “quite filthy” and stagnant.
She was convicted on a charge of theft of movable property.
