A 61-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured when their car was struck broadside by a truck, police said Sunday.
Janice Getzfrid of Westminster died of head and chest injuries Saturday night at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Westminster Police Lt. Andrew Hall said.
Leonard Getzfrid, 62, who was driving the couple’s white 1985 Chrysler New Yorker, was treated for head injuries and released Sunday from Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, police and a hospital supervisor said.
The collision occurred at 6:20 p.m. at Golden West Street and Georgetown Avenue.
Richard M. Avila, 35, of Anaheim drove the brown four-wheel-drive Chevrolet truck that collided with the Getzfrids’ car, Hall said.
Neither Avila nor a 9-year-old child in his truck were injured. Hall said no citations were issued and the accident investigation is continuing.
