Morocco Shantytown Residents Protest

RABAT, Morocco — Angry shanty dwellers blocked a main road north of the Moroccan capital and pelted motorists with rocks in protest of government housing plans, witnesses said Friday.
The protest Thursday took place at Bouknadel, 30 miles north of Rabat on the main road to Tangier, after they were told they would be moved and their homes destroyed.
At least one person was injured before police restored calm.
